The Truth About Candida Overgrowth
Why a restrictive "candida diet" is unnecessary, and how to figure out what's really behind frequent yeast infections
This post is from my previous newsletter, Food Psych Weekly.
This week’s question is from a reader named Jessica, who writes:
Hi Christy! I look forward to your weekly newsletter so much. Thank you for all the care and attention you put into your responses. My question is about candida overgrowth. I've recently started getting more yeast infections and I've heard it's recommended to 'starve the yeast' by cutting out sugar and yeast for a couple of months but, as an intuitive eater this feels really drastic. I do want to help my body to get rid of this issue though - I would like to hear what you think is the best route. If I need to temporarily eat this way to get rid of the yeast infections, I will but I thought you might have some alternative info. Are probiotics and anti-fungals on their own effective enough? Thank you so much - any info would be appreciated!
